Gold Guides are available on just about every topic out there. They all tell you the same basic things – you need a great deal of patience and be incredibly vigilant to make gold. Of course, there are always a few shortcuts. That is where these 5 tips come into play. To help you uncover a few good shortcuts.

1. Read the Friggin Patch Notes

Every World of Warcraft guide worth its’ weight in gold will tell you the same thing. Look for the little things in the patch and maintenance notes that can boost your gold making potential. The time to move on an item is when it becomes rarer or is new to the game. It is at this point that prices will skyrocket making farming for the item a worthwhile endeavor.

2. Know Your Mobs

This should be a no brainer, but always know the mobs you are fighting. If you start a farming session prepared and with a plan, you will kill mobs faster and make a higher profit. Gold Guides often forget to give basic information about your quarry before you go in to fight. That can lead to a whole host of problems if you are not prepared.

3. Farm During Off-Peak Hours

Farming at the right time can mean larger profits and a higher rate of return. WoW Gold Guides are very popular. This means that some locations are highly farmed throughout most of the day. If you can get online when the other farmers are not, you won’t have to wait as long for respawns or invest as much effort into farming them.

4. Play the Auction House

The biggest point that all WoW Gold Guides make is that you must 100%, absolutely have a firm grasp of the current status of the Auction House and any items you may be farming. Study your Gold Guide thoroughly and have an understanding as to the general rate you should be charging. You should also be constantly checking for updates, rate changes, and changes in item availability. This will go a long was in boosting you ability to make gold.
WoW Gold Guides are an essential first step in making solid profits in the game; but if you want to be as effective as possible in doing so, you must remember to continually remain vigilant – checking things like drop rates, mob appearances and gold per hour rates.

So you rushed your way through the Wrath of the Lich King content and are now level 80. Maybe you even have another level 80 character standing by waiting for something to do. What do you do next? What else is there to do when you hit the magic level cap? Luckily, Blizzard is among the best at always prepping end-game content. This time around is no different. The following are five different activities that you can do once you hit level 80.

1. New Daily Quests

The new dailies are not limited to level 80. Throughout Northrend, dailies start at level 71 and continue up through level 80. Dailies are a good way to farm for gold. With all 25 dailies, you can get up to 450 gold per day. They are also a great way to boost your reputation quickly and effectively.

2. Instance Progressions

With tons of rewards, great lore, and a number of ways to get into both PvP and instances, Instance Progression is another fun activity at level 80. Places like Icecrown Glacier are loaded with multiple options for end-game content, including progressions where you can play through most of the build up to Icecrown Citadel.

3. Raiding

Of course, there are many dungeons and raids that you can run at level 80. There are currently four raids to run – Naxxramas, Obsidian Sanctum, The Nexus, and the Vault of Archavon. That is a lot of content that is available for the running. In addition, you can also run through all of the level 70-80 instances, playing on Heroic mode. Expect new dungeons and raids to be added as the game ages.

4. PvP

PvP content has never been a strong point in the World of Warcraft. This time around, there is quite a bit of new content to enjoy. This includes Arena play, the new battleground (Strand of the Ancients), the new PvP dailies in Grizzly Hills, and the new outdoor PvP zone, Lake Wintergrasp. Lake Wintergrasp offers some of the bets PvP rewards in the game

5. Achievements

When all else fails, start getting some of the nearly 1,000 achievements in the game, building up your character and your profile to showcase all of the amazing things you’ve done. Get 100 mounts, defeat everyone on heroic, or explore every continent. There is so many achievements to do, you might as well start now.

Do you ever feel like you’re out of things to do?

Warcraft-Tips.com recommends WarcraftFormula.com to learn what other players are already doing to enjoy the top new content in end-game play.

With the launch of Wrath of the Lich King, players were in awe and also concerned about others who were able to get through the initial content in a few days. There were players who were playing Death Knights hitting Level 80 in four to five days of real time. As it stands, there are still plenty of players who have not reached Level 80 on their own. They are going to be spending a good chunk of time grinding for weeks or months to come. So, what should a new player expect for play through times to Level 80?

Powering Through the Old Content

Classic content as well as the Burning Crusade content have been toned down to make leveling up easier. Reaching level 60 is now possible in about four days of game play. Outlands can be completed in about one day. Some players are plowing through the Outlands in 18-20 hours of hardcore game play. While it’s easy to get through to Northrend, how long does it take to power through it?

The New Continent

The new continent of Northrend appears that it would take a long time to get through. With more than 1.5 million XP per level, leveling at a fast pace can be tangled by a whole lot of content. As it turns out, you can finish each level faster than most people did the Outland levels. Not only is rested XP more inclusive (up to a full level of it – usually 2000 XP per kill when rested) but quests reward 20k XP per completion. There are dozens of subzones that reward up to 100,000XP per zone for simple exploration. Add it up and combine it with a streamlined leveling process, faster mounts and help from friends, you can get from level to level in five hours each or faster.

So What Does It Really Take?

The bottom line is that most players should be able to reach level 80 in no more than 8 days of total game play time. Some players are clocking times as low as 7 days. Those times will continue to reduce and smooth out and that is only for those that are actively doing so within content that is built for solo questing. Instances, group play and AoE grinding make it all even faster.

If you think you’re at the top of the leveling pyramid already for Level 80, hats off to you.

How many power leveling guides have you seen on the market since you first started playing the game? It seems like a new guide pops up every month. How can you know which ones are good and which ones are a waste of time and money? Here are the top five requirements that every good World of Warcraft Power Leveling Guide should have before you invest any of you hard earned money into it.

1. Clear Writing

The number one thing many World of Warcraft leveling guides don’t have is a decent grasp of the English language. Most World of Warcraft leveling guides reflect the fact that not everyone is a professional writer. That does not mean these guide writers have an excuse for poor writing and unclear instructions. Look for a guide that is detailed, concise, and most of all uses proper grammar. You’ll thank yourself later.

2. Images, Videos, and Mods

Little things, such as videos, images, and in-game leveling mods are incredibly useful in a World of Warcraft leveling guide. Knowing what you’re looking for, where you should be, and how your game should be progressing are all vital aspects of any successful power leveling guide.

3. Coordinates

Be sure your power leveling guide has coordinates laid out for every step of the process. You need to know exactly where you are going and in what order to go there. If things are not well divided and marked, how can you be sure they are at all accurate?

4. Instructions which are Accurate and Up to Date

Sometimes, a power leveling guide will be out of date. If you buy a World of Warcraft power leveling guide that was written before the 2.3 patch, it would be sorely out of date. That particular patch knocked off a total of almost 8% of the XP needed to reach Level 70. With an old guide, you would be stuck completing harder and unnecessary quests. Make sure your guide is up to date.

5. Unlimited Updates

Every World of Warcraft leveling guide on the market should come with a lifetime guarantee for updates and revisions as the game changes. New patches, new expansion packs, and any other new content that appears should be reflected in your World of Warcraft leveling guide as quickly as possible and free of charge.

A good World of Warcraft leveling guide is many things – it is versatile, accurate, and detailed, and most of all it is effective in helping you reach Level 80 as fast as possible. If your guide does not do these things, you may have paid for a subpar product. Do your research, check the offerings of your World of Warcraft power leveling guide and make sure it is the best possible guide you can buy for your money.

Prior to the Wrath of the Lich King, was a one-dimensional aspect of World of Warcraft. The Outlands had a few simple tasks like retaking Haala or killing opponents and taking the towers or beacons in Zangarmarsh, Hellfire or the Terokkar Forest. The objectives were easy, the reward was minimal, and it was often zone-wide, so everyone received it. For this reason, very few did them. There was also no reason to join in if a dozen other players did it for you.

When Wrath of the Lich King hit the shelves, all of that changed. The game started emphasizing more advanced, real time battles in World PvP. Lake Wintergrasp was the first real time PvP battle zone. This new zone has players facing off in epic battles on the live server and getting rewarded handsomely. Some of the rare and valuable rewards are items such as the new Heirloon that can be used on any character of any level.

In addition to the way in which the game now works, many players can get directly involved. This includes a slew of different ways in which players can take advantage of weaknesses of their opponents. Players can now use PvP to get into PvE content and then get rewarded with everything from Emblems of Heroism to the rare and valuable Season 5 Gear.

While there are new PvP objectives and World PvP options in Grizzly Hills as well, you are only going to hear about Lake Wintergrasp. Blizzard has put into place more options than ever before to get players involved, ensuring that the content remains fresh and relevant, and to build up a means by which they can grow their PvP options to compete with other MMOs built entirely on PvP.

As the popularity of Lake Wintergrasp dicates, World PvP is here to stay. You can expect a whole slew of new options in future patches and expansions added to real world PvP as the game gets more depth. Expect that your skill level now will have a huge impact on how you perform in the future as well, especially if you want to start getting the top rewards and achievements.

An incredibly popular way to make gold in the World of Warcraft has always been mining ore. Ore in Northrend is no different. Ore nodes appear in abundance in every zone. There are three new ores in the game with the Wrath of the Lich King content. As the game has settled in, the final values for all three have been set. This has made it much easier to maximize your income.

Colbat Ore

Cobalt ore is the first of the new ores. It is available in Borean Tundra, Howling Fjord, Dragonblight, and Grizzly Hills in solid amounts. Smaller numbers are available in other zones. You will find a slew of different nodes in each zone, with each node dropping between 1 and 4 ores. Each node will also drop Crystallized Earth, Fire or Shadow. The latter two items being relatively valuable at the Auction House.

Saronite Ore

Saronite ore is the second common ore in Northrend. It is incredibly valuable and can be found in every zone above the starting zones in Northrend. You’ll find that the ore is in both normal and rich veins. It will provide you with between 1 and 3 ores for regular and 2 and 5 for rich veins along with the same crystallized elements. A good run through Saronite can make you upwards of 250 gold an hour.

Titanium Ore

Titanium Ore is Northrend’s extremely rare ore. It cannot be prospected. However, because it is used in Titansteel, which has numerous different uses in high level crafting, you will to find that Titanium ore sells for huge amounts of gold per stack. It will sell in upwards of 200 gold or more on good days. The ore shows up on nodes of both Cobalt and Saronite in any one of the zones you may enter and is thus not settled into any one spot (making it harder to track).

Titanium ore is the ultimate goal but both Saronite and Cobalt will both help you get your gold making rate up much higher with a mining skill of at least 400 to work with. While you can no longer cash in on the early stages of the expansion, the gold making opportunities at Level 80 are still quite viable and incredibly profitable.

Don’t waste time on the wrong ore in the wrong locations.

An incredibly popular way to enjoy content in World of Warcraft has been though making gold. This opens up a whole slew of new items and possibilities through your grinding efforts. Since the creation of the Inscription profession in the 3.0 patch, the game’s newest and most popular gold making activity has been gathering herbs. It has increased and held steady in value since herbs started being used in two different professions. With dozens of new herbs in Northend to choose from, you can expect that herbs will continue to be incredibly popular gold making opportunity for months to come.

Northrend’s Top Spots

There are currently a few spots in Northrend that will yield the most gold. For example, in the Borean Tundra, you will find a lot of Tiger Lily and Goldclover spawns. All are located within close proximity to each other near the lake beside the DEHTA camp in the middle of the map. You will also find that the game has a ton of new herbs that only show in select locations. The Talandra’s Rose that grows in the lower half of Zul’Drak is highly valuable as well and the content you’re going to come across when you reach the two zones of Sholazar Basin, Icecrown Glacier. Storm Peaks is going to reward you with a bag full of highly valuable herbs that sell for as much as 100 gold per stack. With low competition, you can make huge profits in very short periods of time.

Maximizing Your Gold Income

The best way to maximize income has always been to find areas that are not overly farmed by others. This includes herb nodes in Sholazar Basin, Zul’Drak, and Storm Peaks where there are multiple small patches that include dozens of different herbs tightly packed together. Look for different herb maps online that will guide you to the right spots, or install Gatherer and start tracking where you find nodes to maximize income. Also, be sure to sell all of the Crystallized Life you gather from the herbs you pick. Crystallized Life will drop with nearly every herb you come pick.

With an Herbalism skill of at least 400, herbs are incredibly valuable. If you can get yours up and start farming early at Levels 70-72, you can make between 4,000 and 10,000 gold in the time it takes you to reach Level 80.

Don’t waste time in the wrong location farming the wrong herbs.

Arena Season 5 is an obvious testing ground for PvP situations that cannot be hashed out very well in testing by Blizzard. For this reason, there are a number of steady and constant changes that are going through the game to help balance out classes and set up a more steady and confined competition.

What You Can Expect

Resilience has been tuned way down this time around. You cannot possibly get enough resilience to have any effect on your performance, at least not in the same way that you did in the past. Most players need around 1200 Resilience at Level 80 to be effective in mitigating damage. Season 5 gear caps out around 900 or so. This makes Season 5 more of a damage and burst focused season than any season since Season 1 up through about rankings of 2100 or more.

In addition, Season 5 gear now comes in one of three different tiers. Players can start getting PvP gear when they are running instances and picking up Emblems of Heroism. These can be turned in along with honor points for various pieces of gear that no longer require only Arena points. Additionally, the cap for buying high end PvP gear has been lowered to 2050 so that more players can more readily purchase top end gear before they hit 2100 in the arena (a spot that is hard to get to).

What Does it Take to Dominate?

What does it take to dominate you competition in Season 5? At the moment, the most dominant two classes are Retribution Paladins who can take damage forever and deal it out in nice bursts while healing through whatever damage they do actually take. Death Knights, who are generally too overpowered no matter how you look at things, are also dominant. In teams of 2 or 3, these two classes with a healer or a Mage are going to clean up. In 5 man play, the dominant factor is still going to be balance and planning. However, burst damage is much more effective right now than anything else. That is why 3 person DPS teams are showing up more and more often.

However you play, PvP is not what it will be in a few weeks or months. Practice what you can but prepare for major changes as Blizzard continues to hash it all out before Season 6 comes along.

Everyone wants to be at the top.

Whenever a new season starts in PvP, there is a question about the balance of the character classes in the arena and whether or not Blizzard needs to go in and nerf/buff a dozen different specs. This is even more pronounced when you get into the current PvP Season where thirty different character talent trees have just hit Level 80 and are trying to balance out against each other (with Blizzard’s help of course).

Whenever a new Arena season starts, a question arises about the balance of the character classes in the arena and whether or not Blizzard needs to go in and buff/nerf a dozen different specs. This is even more pronounced when you get into the current Arena Season where thirty different character talent trees have just hit Level 80 and are trying to balance out against each other.

The Power Houses

Whenever you get a slew of new character talents at a new level cap, the balance will be out of whack in favor of some and against others. Ironically those who are overpowered are often more concerned because they know they’ll be nerfed and it can often lead to suffering in PvE content as in the case of Shamans and Paladins in the past.

This time around, Unholy Death Knights are sitting atop the rankings along with Retribution Paladins. Both specs are incredibly powerful against nearly anyone out there and have become entirely too powerful. Mages are also proving to be somewhat overpowering. But as is often the case they are not getting the attention that overpowered melee classes do because they can be beaten more readily due to their lower hit points.

The Weaklings

On the flip side, there are some classes that are suffering this time around because of new specs, poor redesigns and a lack of overall balance. The Warlock sits atop this list. The Warlock, who was once a powerhouse in the Arenas and is now suffering greatly due to lack of internal balance and cohesion with new Demonology respec. Shadow Priests are also suffering a bit due to a lack of buffs to balance them out with other DPS casters though Disc Priests are still well represented in the arena.

The balance issues will always exist, but you can expect that they will grow after a major expansion. They will begin to outweigh the content a bit more than usual due to the inability of Blizzard to effectively know and test classes and specs on live servers before launch. It’s bound to happen and will likely continue to settle down for months to come as Season 6 starts to approach. As with the TBC adjustments that occurred between the beginning of Season 1 and the end of Season 2, expect a slew of new changes in the patches to come.

If you want to have the perfect character ready for PvP, you had better know what new changes are on the way to that class.

In the last two years, World of Warcraft game play has slowly and steadily skewed more and more towards being a casual oriented game. It is trying to draw in more players and give them things to do at all levels of play. This is so players don’t need to devote hours and days at a time to enjoy the game. It’s a winning strategy for shareholders, but has it been equally effective for players who have been with WoW since day one? The answer can go either way depending on who you ask.

The Pros of Casual Style Play

Casual style play adds a lot of fun things to the game that might otherwise be left out. Achievements, lower level requirements for mounts, less XP to get to the higher level content and a slew of events held throughout the year all add a great deal of depth to the WoW universe. For hardcore players who are constantly playing through the same content trying to get a new epic shield or pair of spaulders, it is a welcome distraction and a great way to add depth to their current play style.

The Cons of the Casual Style

On the flip side, all that time spent putting new content into the game in the form of achievements, non-combat pets, and lower level instances has drawn away from resources Blizzard previously poured into raiding content and things for more devoted players. Raiding sizes have been reduced to 10 and 25 men and the highest level raid at Level 80 is considerably easier than anything atop the Level 70 ladder. Players who reached level 80 in the first few days of the expansion are left with PvP or achievement grinding if they want something to do as they wait for the higher end raids that will eventually come to the game.

What Casual Mean for Warcraft

In the end, casual gamers coming to WoW is good for everyone. It brings in new revenues and as long as Blizzard maintains quality levels and puts the necessary resources they should into the game, they will be able to maintain a steady flow of new content for all level of players. It might seem like the faithful are getting screwed, but it is a tradeoff for resources and freedom to develop new content in the future that might not otherwise get the go ahead.

Where are the casual trends headed in WoW these days?

One of the more pleasant surprised of Wrath of the Lich King was Naxxramas. Excitement grew as players got a chance to go back into the famous raiding dungeon and retry their hands against the bosses that made up the four quarters and final chamber. When they started to run it, the raid that so many players remembered so well was no longer the same. Here is a rundown of a few of the more memorable changes between releases.

The Difficulty

A reduction in difficulty is the first and most obvious change between versions of Naxxramas. On the surface the raid was obviously a bit easier to run because it was made possible for 10 or 25 players to run it rather than 40. Additionally, players were able to enter into Naxxramas immediately at Level 80. At Level 60, it was considered a top end raid that capped the Level 60 raiding content. The difficulty was set to match the role it played there.

Redundancies and Scaling

The content really hasn’t changed all that much. Some encounters were altered slightly to make it a bit easier to run with less people and certain things like the frost armor that was previously required to complete the end of the raid is no longer required due to the cut back of resistance encounters in the game as a whole.

Creating New Rewards

This time around, the instance has a completely different role. Most players will use it as a stepping stone into level 80 raiding, and back into Heroic dungeon running. It has also become the easiest way to farm for epics, due to how easy it is to run multiple encounters in short periods of time. There are 16 different encounters in the raid and that makes it much easier to get the gear that is available to players for completing each encounter.

In the end, Naxxramas at Level 80 was a great opportunity for players who came into WoW after Naxxramas was closed down or for players who remember it nostalgically. It also reintroduces bosses familiar to players now through Death Knight story lines. It generally makes for a much more interesting, feature rich run through than the original Naxxramas, even if it is much easier.

Naxxramas used to be the biggest thing around.

One of the most appreciated and sought after tasks in World of Warcraft has always been making gold. Day in and day out, players strive to get as much gold in their accounts as possible. Gold is needed to buy things player want, for raiding, building profiles, creating new characters, and capping out professions. The best way to make gold for many characters is to use their professions. This hasn’t changed in Wrath of Lich King. It’s always good to know which professions will pay the most dividends.

Gathering Professions

All three of the gathering professions will get you profits rather quickly. Skinning is most likely the least valuable of the three due to the lower demands for leather goods. Mining will always be a profitable profession. An hour of farming ore will often net between 150 and 250 gold. Herbalism is another great way to make gold. There are generally a few more herb nodes in any given zone. All herbs in Northrend will sell for a decent amount of gold due to inscription and the Azure pigment standardizing their values across the board.

Crafting Professions

Crafting professions are going to vary from profession to profession depending on your goal. To boost your gold making, there are a few solid ways that stand out amongst the rest. Now that crafted rares and epics are back in fashion, Blacksmithing is a great way to make gold. Don’t expect this to lsat log as players will replace crafted gear with gear from raids and instances.
Alchemy is still a valuable profession but not as much as it once was. This is due to the new potion and elixir restrictions recently put in place for each battle. Engineering has never been a good gold making profession. There are a few new ways to make gold with it by selling things like Army Knives and Choppers or using Extractors on Eternal Essences.

Inscription, Jewel crafting, and Enchanting are all good professions because they provide a valuable buffing product to every player in the game. Tailoring and Leatherworking are also good but they are going to be limited by your customers.

In the end, the gold making options for your primary professions lies in what you use the items for, whether you save gold on items you would need to otherwise buy and whether you are happy with the final results of the process at Level 80. If you work at it, gold can be made with anything, but only if you are ready to do the work.

There is gold to be made in World of Warcraft, but are you situated to take full advantage of it all.

To learn what it takes to be at the top, making the most gold possible, we recommend WarcraftFormula.com.

With the launch of Wrath of the Lich King, 10-man raiding has been brought to a full head. The game now includes a number of new options for smaller guilds, casual players, and those with less time than the large guilds to enjoy raiding content that they could not previously experience. The game has become more accessible to many players and the quality of play has been raised in the 10-man raid. It needed to be due to the completely new format and style of play that so many players are having trouble with.

What does a 10-man raiding group look like?

A 10-man raid group is going to fundamentally look slightly different from any other group out there. While the 10-man raids are considered to be easier than the 25-man raids, they do require a bit of flexibility from every member of the team. Bosses will have 1 million or more hit points. With two teams of players, if a healer goes down, you may have one backup available. The same is true for your tank, so it’s important that every single person on the team can play a minimum of two roles. With stats compounding for casters and tanks, this becomes much easier.

You should have two tanks for every 10-man group and at least one off-tank who can act as DPS, but can step in for tanking if necessary. Feral Druids, Blood Death Knights, and Retribution Paladins are all great for this off-tank role.

You will also need two healers for most groups. This provides one for each tank. However, this can make it hard to maintain the healing you will need to keep raid members alive against AoE bosses or ones with diseases or DoTs. Three healers is best, though you will need considerable DPS coming from the remaining 5 DPS members, especially against bosses with enrage timers that are shorter than most bosses.

The best way to balance this is to have two dedicated healers and an off-healer who can throw out the occasional heal for DPS raiders when they get hit. Druids, Paladins, and Shamans can all play this role if properly specd. Shadow Priests are also a good fit because the Priest gear is pretty close to the same since Spell Power covers healing and damage.

When you go into a 10-man raid, keep in mind that you will need to be flexible and versatile. Keep your eyes open. Build up a group of highly talented and multi-functional people. Bring the player, not the class. If you follow this advice, you will do well.

How many 10-man raids do you think you’ll need to run before you master this formula?
